Numerical Modeling - Sediments

Sediment transport in rivers and nearshore regions must be properly understood as a part of any nearshore design process. Whether the issues are erosion, deposition or contamination, sediment transport modeling can provide the answers, when properly applied.

Sediment transport modeling often combines results from hydraulic or wave modeling processes with the complex physics that governs the motion of sediments. Baird's strong hydraulic and wave modeling ability, and our range of commercial and proprietary sediment models provides the tools to assess sediments for a wide range of projects.

Baird's sediment modeling experience includes:

  • riverine applications that employ 1D, 2D and 3D hydrodynamics;
  • wave induced nearshore transport;
  • projects sites ranging from streams to oceans;
  • cohesive and non-cohesive soils;
  • contaminated sediments assessments;
  • multi-layered sediments; and
  • suppy-limited sediment transport conditions.
