Software Development

Today's projects and management tools deal with an ever-increasing amount of data. While these volumes of data can be overwhelming, all elements must be carefully considered in order to make the appropriate conclusions and decisions. The solution to such challenges often lies in a customized software system. These systems simplify data handling and allow the operator to efficiently apply their expertise to the task.

Baird has designed and implemented numerous software systems over the years. While most applications have included hydraulic processes, our staff has also designed systems for other topics. The common thread in most of our software systems is the handling of spatial and temporally changing data, and advanced visualization techniques.

Software systems that Baird has developed in the past include:

  • a GIS based flood and erosion prediction system for basin wide erosion assessments;
  • a web based prediction system for currents and water levels on the Fraser River;
  • an air quality monitoring system for Sarawak, Malaysia; and
  • a system for analyzing acoustic telemetry data and bio-tracking of fish species.

Many of these systems are developed as modules of Baird's X-Vision, and SDA packages. More information on these and other software applications can be found through our software division.
