We are currently looking for a dynamic, motivated, and personable Numerical Modeler & Data Scientist with a strong background in numerical modeling, data science and data analytics to join our team. The selected candidate will assist a diverse team of international engineers and scientists on a variety of projects and R&D initiatives.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Background in coastal and riverine processes including wave mechanics, sediment transport and morphology, hydraulics, hydrology, tides, water levels, currents, and water quality.
  • Experience using multi-dimensional numerical models such as the MIKE and DELFT software packages, TELEMAC, TOMAWAC, ADCIRC, SWAN, STWAVE, EFDC, FVCOM, the HEC modeling system, SWAT, WAVAD, WAVEWATCH3, FUNWAVE, FLOW-3D, OPENFOAM, STAR-CCM, and REEF3D.
  • Application and high level understanding of hydrodynamic, spectral wave and CFD modeling with prior experience with commonly used modeling systems such as: MIKE, DELFT, TELEMAC, TOMAWAC, ADCIRC, SWAN, STWAVE, EFDC, FVCOM, the HEC modeling system, SWAT, WAVAD, WAVEWATCH3, FUNWAVE, FLOW-3D, OPENFOAM, STAR-CCM, and REEF3D
  • Analyzing datasets to find patterns and create solutions. Knowledge of statistics for effective problem-solving in the domain of coastal engineering.
  • Experience with software such as PARAVIEW, BLENDER, TECPLOT or other tools to support visualization and processing of model inputs and outputs.
  • Interpreting and presenting results in a clear manner. Propose solutions and strategies to address complex challenges.
  • Strong communication skills to present complex findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to work in a team environment with clients, internal technical groups, and business development teams.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Degree in civil engineering, computer science, mathematics, or similar field.
  • Master’s degree or PhD in coastal engineering, computer science, mathematics is an asset.
  • Registered with or have ability to register as a Professional Engineer is beneficial but not required.
  • A minimum of five years of numerical modeling experience in a coastal or water resource role.
  • Experience with data science and numerical modelling
  • Experience with CAD, Arc-GIS, and MS Office software an asset but not required.
  • Willingness to travel both domestically and internationally for 1 to 2-week periods as required.
